Well, I thought of something really cool to talk about today. And I completely forgot what it was. Anyway.
Today, I went to lunch and stayed for over an hour. Talking with Sylvia and Luke about thousands of different things. You know those conversations, which go on forever, and are so so so so great. And so I had a really terrific day today. Great. Only one thing that I'd change. But who cares? Not me. Great day, and I loved it. If only every day could be as completely awesome as today. Then the world woudl be a great place. I love you world.
Luke, you're a really funny, special kid. You're tons of fun, and I just want to let ou know that I really enjoy being around you. You da man!
About a split second before I hit the "post" button, I remembered what it was that I was going to say!
You know how in HP lovecraft type novels, the character is discovering something, like an artifact, and there are a hundred different things that stop him, like the universe is screaming at him "you don't want to find out!! Some things are better left unknown, and this is one of them."
Anyway, me, being the little budding sabrmatrician that I am, have been working on a problem for a while now. Namely, how to convert a players stats in year xxxx to stats in year yyyy. Bill James does it a little bit. But he doens't do everything. Namely, Babe Ruth was a home run hitter in an era that wasn't as friendly to home runs as today is. So, when I first figured it out, I came out with some outrageous number, that Babe Ruth would have hit somethign like 180 homers a year had he played today. This is obviously a bad answer. So I figured it was impossible. But, a little while later, I figured out a method to do it.
And so, I've been trying it, and I kept on running into problems. Like, I added the wrong things or stuff. Anyway, today, I was working on it, was very close to figuring it out. And things kept on coming up. First, Luke IMed, and nearly forced me to go to lunch. Then, after I got back, and started working on it again, I got a call. That took me a while. Then, I got another call. Then, I figured out that maybe I wasn't supposed to figure it out. So I quit for a while, ya know, I figured I'd sleep on it. And maybe I will finish it. I mean, what possible evil can I unleash upon the world? Can't possibly be as bad as the evil Seth unleashes daily. :) See you all tomorrow.
