Worthless and Weak

Lets say that, in football, you had a period of years were there didn't seem to be any dominant team. Superbowl teams of one year could be bad teams the next year, likewise laughably bad teams one year could be good teams the following year. But, most importantly, there isn't any one team that can be considered great, nor has there been for some time. Now, lets say that you have a team that won the whole thing two years ago, and that put together perhaps the second greatest regular season of all time. Going 14-2, winning their last 12 games. Now lets say that they get to the superbowl, the clear favorite against an underdog opponent. Now, the actual game is great, described as perhaps the greatest superbowl ever. Each team was in it till the very end, when finally the favorite wins by a field goal with mere seconds remaining on the clock.

That was football at its greatest. It doesn't get much better than that. Yet it was overshadowed by the frickin halftime show. I know that if the "media" wants to go and talk about that all day long, well, they will. But isn't there something just fundamentally wrong when a stupid stunt can just tower over the game like that.
